I see the same missing text on some messages. If you click "View Source", you get the email message source code, which may have the message text in a readable format embedded. I got to read Tapio's message that way.
On the replies, if you click "reply", and then click the "indoor_construction_at_yahoogroups.com" address after the "To:", you'll get a pulldown list from which you can select the the individual name for a PM.
Not a big step forward in usability, I have to admit.
