Hello all,
The following is a brief update regarding efforts to gain access to the Tustin “Blimp” north hangar. The news is both good and bad. First the bad, as some of you may of heard… the north hangar had a small portion of the roof “collapse” a month ago. Please see enclosed link:

http://www.ocregister.com/articles/base-529815-hangar-inside.html This event has caused the “powers that be” to reconsider the viability of the structure’s rehabilitation.
The good news… Ten days ago we received word from the “powers the be” that the partial collapse was a “bump in the road” and that development efforts are continuing! More good news… on the 24th of October the AMA announced that the MCAS, North Blimp Hangar had been awarded “Historic Site” status. The “Historic Site” designation entails the installation of a plaque on site (assuming permission is given). Please see enclosed plaque examples from previous awardees. In the coming days an appropriate dedication will be drafted for eventual inclusion on the plaque. All are welcome to submit examples of a suggested dedication.
The members of the Harbor Soaring Society welcome your support and will continue to keep you posted as developments warrant.
Best regards, John Rittenhouse
