Saw some good flying yesterday.
Bill Gowen had several F1M flights over 14 minutes. He came within a hair's breadth of setting a new record, but things didn't quite work out for it. Maybe next time!
Nick Ray and I struggled all day with F1D's. Finally at the end of the contest we got nice calm air and I figured out what I was doing wrong. The result was a very satisfying 26:25 for a new club record (old record of 26:02 by Kagan). By the way, that took 1460 turns from a loop of this year's SS rubber. It took 19+ minutes to reach the ceiling.
It kept feeling good until just before Nick's super-duper airplane landed, having finally managed to make an entire flight. Result: 26:39. Well I guess I have a new target!
