At Larry Coslick's suggestion, earlier this year I tried the boiling water treatment on several of the newer Tan SS batches including the previously mentioned January 2010 batch. I saw no increase in torque, energy capacity, or toughness compared to the rubber from the same batch. The article, in the January-February 2013 NFFS Digest, had the named batch of unboiled rubber as bought in June fof 2006 so it is not one of the better, newer Tan SS batches. The boiled batch was never named. The test is not very "scientific" or reliable if not done on the same batches.
Given that my test showed nothing good on Tan SS rubber, I did not see the need to use up any Tan II rubber for additional tests.
