Tapio, The hinges move freely. The first hub of this design was built this spring for a Pennyplane and it performed nicely. This one is smaller and still a bit heavy at 117 mg. The carbon tubes are polished with a glass polish and lubricated with a very small amount of Moebius clock oil. Added 3 more photos of the original Pennyplane hub to the album.
