Hi,
It depends, if there is only a few then it doesn't matter, if there is a lot of SO helicopters, with people running around , entering the building and leaving the doors open, distributing the air and the air is filled with them making the probability of a mid air likely then I would prefer not having SO Helicopter flying at the same time as gliders.     I have no clue how crowded the floor will be with 4 gliders events flying in the same time period, (SCLG,UCLG,HLG, and SO Gliders.)  All I know is that I plan to be there and I hope to have a good time.

Cheers,
Kurt

Calling all Nats glider flyers: Do you guys have a preference about the SO Helicopters? It might not be much of an issue, but hopefully it will (i.e. hopefully there will be a bunch of SO participants).

Do you think it would be a problem to have helis flying during glider?

I am not a glider flier but I think that the SO helicopters, given that they go up and down and not very much around, would interfere little if any with the gliders, which have set flight patterns determined by the width of the flying area. This is especially so if the SO helicopters were kept to one side (east or west). The advantage is that you have two weekend days for SO helicopters just as for SO gliders and also you have more exposure to the LPP class (Pro/Am and regular) on the afternoons. In addition, the much heavier helicopters are kept away from the 1.2g planes on Friday afternoon and evening as these light planes will spend a great deal of time near the top all over the site given the usual drift to the east and west ends
