For same flying weight some events may be pretty close now. A 1S 50 mah
lipo is about 1.8 grams and I saw a LPP do 18 minutes at 16 grams weight
on 2 single cell 50 mah nicads back at the Buffalo Bills field house. So
a LPP at 3.2 grams and 1.8 grams of rubber gives a flying weight of 5
grams. With current technology, you can build an electric LPP model to
that same ready to fly weight. You can get motor/gearbox/prop for under
1 gram now, add in a 1.8 gram lipo that leaves 2.2 grams for airframe
and that model would fly over 20 minutes so would beat a LPP at equal
flying weight.
