Yes, it's what we do on EZB's that need to be launched at high torque. This is what we some times call "opposite wash". It's needed here at the Mines because the F1D is being launched at a very high torque. Basically, under high torque, this set up will produce the right amount of left wing wash in and right wing wash out -- not too much and not too little. Without this set up, the model would have too much left wing wash in at launch and resulting in the model having a steep bank to the right and either not gain any altitude or spiral to the ground.
