The two biggest issues with my current method are:
- keeping the film spread out on the transfer medium until it is applied to the hole
- adhering the edges of the patch without making the hole bigger
I can make nice looking patches at home, but those done on-site are more functional than beautiful.
I am going to try elements of the other methods described. Thanks for the tips.
One more note: rips frequently run to the balsa outline, so equip yourself with a battery cautery tool for trimming the edge in the field.
