Neil,
There is no substitute for a real rubber stripper. The time spent trying to make a home made version and the frustration, lack of accuracy or precision make it a perfectly reaonable investment. IMHO

Needing to try to "split" some rubber for the EZB I'm trying to build, I
took a few bits of wood and a piece from a double edged razpr blade and
made a "guess at' splitter - it actually works - so probably find I
can't use it as it'll be to "wimpy" to power the "lead sled" EZB.
