Question on prop design

Hello folks,

 

I'm trying my hand at prop design, something I've yet to do.

 

In Don Ross' book "Rubber Powered Model Airplanes" he covers prop design and
I follow how he gets prop diameter and pitch diameter but, I can't see how
he gets maximum blade chord. Could someone explain it to me please.
