You feel the rules are crystal clear and ironclad, and the updated interpretation is an egregious affront to language, humanity, and all that we hold dear.

I feel the wording already had flaws, and the updated interpretation is only slightly worse wording-wise, and it is a better way to steer anyway, down low at least.

If you had been on the team that year, you have expressed your outrage directly to the people who made the decision. Since you weren't, I guess your only option now is to submit a rule change proposal.

So, do we just keep going back and forth until one of us gets tired and goes to sleep?

I though rule discussions were forbidden anyway.

(And this has been obvious for what, 40 years?) I'm going to write to PBS/Big Bird to ask about if the whole prop is considered "front end" of an indoor model, and whether a tailboom is "rear of model." I won't ask BB to define where the front and rear of model divide, because I've never seen anyone try to steer from the middle. But I'm sure FAI could express any such dividing line necessary for a steering rule.
