After seeing the pic of the Jones rib slicing tool, I dinked around with CAD for a few minutes and came up with a template that gives .50” of depth travel in .001” increments – not surprisingly, it looks one heckuva lot like Mr. Jones device. Happy to post the template if there is any interest.

Aki-san is correct. The Jim Jones rib slicing tool permits adjusting the distance the rib template moves downward between slicing cuts by moving a triangular (~30 deg triangle) indexing plate to the right. The horizontal movement is 2-4 time the vertical movement of the template. My ability to describe this clearly is not so great.
I wish that I had bought another one of these and another two or more torque meters while Jim Jones was still able to make and sell them. Many good tools came from him.

I use a template made from aluminum flashing material for the first cut and then a Gardner or Tyson stripper to cut two or three ribs. I true the blank by making another cut with the template and then cut some more ribs.

I have been using JJ rib slicing tool for all models but, of course, it is not sold anymore.
It is easier and faster than using a 2 micrometers type balsa stripper like Indoor Model Specialties.
What tool do you use to slice ribs? What do you recommend to newcom ers?
We can find rubber strippers, winders, balsa slitters, scales and many other tools but cannot find a rib slicing tool (and an analog TQ meter).
Good flying, Aki, my PC broke this week and lost all emails and email addresses...
