The original one was devised as a system for calibrating a couple of Flinstone (disc and wire) meters, after reading John Barker's comment that we can't communicate if we have no standard of measurement. Then I realized that I didn't need the Flintstones at all any more. The original, the improvements, and Bill's and Tapio's are all here:
