I was working in the middle of Illinois in the '50s where there was no model plane activity so my son Randy and I would often drive to Chicago on week-ends to fly indoor with the Aeronuts in the Madison St. armory. At 1st it ws just gliders but we progressed to EZBs and then other indoor classes.

My 1st serious indoor Nats was at Lakehurst in 1965. I did two 60 sec glider flights which were my all time best. Randy won all his events and set two national jr records. The next year he was the overall jr champ-and then he "retired". He and my other son now spend their free time playing video games.
