The transition from print to PDF came in early 2004 and followed
several years of declining circulation from a high of over 2,000 in
the 1990s to around 300 by late 2003.
We've been editing the magazine since August of 2004. Creating the
digital editions takes the same software as the print editions would
require. Our expenses are pretty minimal, and donations from readers
have so far covered everything.
How successful has the transition been? There are now 2,500
individuals signed up for the RC Soaring Digest Yahoo! group and each
issue is downloaded many times more than that. Readers and
contributors inhabit locales around the world.
It's been a marvelous experience for us.
