Not sure that is necessary, but I would reframe the 'discussion'.

The apparent argument is that there is something wrong and they point towards declining numbers. So reframe it in that context. What is it that you are looking for? More clubs? More flying sites? Greater participation? Define what it is. And figure out how to get answers that matter from an unbiased audience.

DD, for example, wanted to ask NFFS members. Wrong audience if it is the only audience. You'd want to ask AMA members as well as getting to the guys in the local hobby shops, Internet groups, other groups in other countries even. But the questions and how they are framed and analysed is most important, IMO.
