I put my model boxes inside the transport footlocker(s). But, you can also carry-on a model box, too, if you want to do so for the more fragile models. Kang does this. My model boxes (the F1D box, too), inside the footlockers, travel to flying meets often in the bed of my pickup truck so I feel that they will take airline travel.
In 2008 and 2010, flying at Kibbie was all day, every day. The gliders are out in the early morning and had precedence then when I was there but I still flew all day. The lighter planes (less than LPP) usually fly on one side and the heavier on the other. In 2010 the visiting Brits flew LPP, F1M, F1L, F1D and 35cm (now, F1R) all on the light side.
As always, Andrew as the final say and sets the informal rules for the event.
