I also forgot to say that I think the 6.2 gram weight has really killed
the event. At the Kent contest we have to find 3 people to make it an
official FAC event for a kanone. For many years Kent flew 6.2 gram and
it quickly turned into a Hosler Fury only contest and the same for the
contest up in Flint. 1,2,3rd all Hosler furies. this year Kent dropped
the weight in hope to bring more participants and that is why I built a
new model as my old light nocals were all Gampi covered and consequently
illegal. The 6.2gr may be OK for a local fun fly where guys are using
plastic props and flying essentially models built for outdoor but at the
USIC/Nats I see no reason to have such a restriction, it is indoor
duration event that happens to look like a full size aircraft. No
restriction is on any other FAC event flown indoors, such as Phantom
Flash, or peanut scale, WWI mass launch, so why penalize Nocal? A new
Nocal for USIC is on my "to do list" (my old one is getting heavy from
repairs over 10 years of time) and if the weight stays at 6.2 grams then
I must build a Hosler to be competitive, if no weight then many other
models will be competitive.
