Hi MIke,
I would invest in a decent reel. You want to get a bait casting reel with a
spool that you can thumb, as opposed to a spinning reel or a Zebco. Avoid
Zebco.
You can buy a decent bait caster for about $25 at any Wal Mart, or
Cabellas, Bass Pro Shops, etc.
I like the braided lines better than the mono lines, and you will need to
pick up a caulk backer rod as well from Lowes or Home depot, like this
http://www.amazon.com/Sashco-Sealants-Pre-Caulking-Filler-Backer/dp/B000DZKZP2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1337631062&sr=8-6
There are several types of this rod, but you want to get the closed-cell
version and I like 1/4" or 3/8" thickness. Anything thicker is tough to
steer with.
Hope this helps!
