Since you asked :-) I don't think any true indoor person has ever viewed
indoor as being wrong, broken, or needing to be fixed like the.way you
have described it over the years. And calling indoor flyers a "bunch of
grumpy old men" as was done in the past, only enhances the "not one of
us sentiment". I don't know any indoor guys I have flow with over the
past 27+ years that would classify other indoor modelers like that,
quite the opposite in fact. I have found the indoor group to be the one
of the best group of people to spend inside a build for countless hours
in heat sweating to death while looking up at the ceiling. I told a
local indoor guy the "grumpy old men" comment back when you posted it
and his reaction was a middle finger held up and a few choice words.

I don't think anyone on the indoor list in general has any issue with
any aspect of free flight be it indoor or out. The indoor vs outdoor
line always seems to be drawn however when stuff about how indoor needs
to do this or that like the do outdoors, etc trying to "fix" it as if
indoor is broke. The implication that outdoor is better and indoor is
not pulling it weight like a salesman who is behind on his monthly sales
quota and is getting chided by his boss. I am glad outdoor has found
success with things like lifting builder of the model rule etc. But that
kind of stuff just will not work for indoor, there is a different
mindset in indoor. Energy needs to be spent on promoting indoor as it is
and less energy focusing on how it differs from outdoor free flight.
