They are 1/16" square balsa strips, something like 8#. Holes are drilled to anchor the strips with a snug fit. Then, I glued them with gorilla glue, because it's what I had to glue the foam sides together. I didn't like working with gorilla glue, mainly due to its long set time. In the future, I would just use any kind of white glue.
