F1D box question

So I have things ready for the EAA minus my box.
Am approaching this as a learning box, so cardboard. It was a monitor box about 9 or 10" high.

I have essentially a flat piece of cardboard the size of the inside and have glued 1/2" balsa as a kind of drawer slide already. Now I have to decide how to mount things to this piece.

For the wings, I'm thinking a base of 1/2" balsa, two pieces of 1/16" music wire going vertically, then some 1/8" by 3/4" with tissue tubes to slide onto the music wire (with some small cutout for the wing, maybe 1/8"). Two of these side by side, load a wing, add spacer, load wing, add spacer, rinse, lather, repeat. At the top, another 1/2" piece slides down onto the music wire with just enough clearance for the box.

Fuse/booms - foam pieces cut with slight wedge shape to hold down.
Props - Foam with slits only.

Stabs - similar to wing.

Is this a reasonable approach for now? Seems quick, easy and reasonably secure for car travel.
