This is what we experienced in Belgrade (similar site with big windows in the ceiling and even more pronounced thermal activity). Based on my years of flying in calm sites, I avoided the "noon balloon" and opted for the calmer air times.

Treger, on the other hand, based, I assume, on his WC F1E experience, recognized the value of the thermals and built models that would handle them without pitching up and stalling.

My perception has changed :)
