I've never been aware of any problem, but then again I do break a lot of motors. Is the reason that this does not happen with heat shrink tubing because it is "softer" or for some other reason? A6 motors are approximately .035" to .040" so the typical straw is a relatively loose fit on the motor, before it is wound. Are LLP motors larger? Do you shrink the tubing? Thanks for giving me one more thing to worry about.

I'm surprised to hear that plastic straws work for you. I forgot my heatshrink tubing for LPP at Johnson City one year and tried to use a straw from Wendy's across the street. It cut through the motor like butter!
