Here's a tip that may help working with film:

When you are laying a piece of crumpled film back out flat, if you try brush or pull out the big wrinkles you'll just charge it back up with static electricity. Then it will cling to everything and be difficult to work with.

I gently blow on it to get it lay out flat. Make sure not to blow at an angle - that will generate lift and mess it up. Blow straight down.
