The Diametral Pitch (DP) is the number of teeth per inch of the Pitch Circle
Diameter (PCD).  When I was working on gear calculations I always had the
reminder in my head that "the number of teeth over DP equals PCD".
 
i.e. PCD = N/DP
 
This is usually the best way to have the equation otherwise you come up with DPs
that are not available or fractions of a tooth!
