I have been also considering building a decent winder, as my current K&P
runs a little rough. I would also like to install a proper turns
counter. From the thread in HipPocket I learned a nice source of gears,
ServoCity, but have been wondering about the (Imperial) numbers for
tooth size/modulus. What does "48>" or "32" mean? I suppose the smaller
the teeth, the smoother the gear train would be? Then I have also been
considering the bearing. Small ball bearings would be an obvious
solution, but one idea that came across my mind was to use similar
construction as in the Ciapala rubber cutters: make the sides of the
winder of thick nylon sheet, so that those face plates could be just
drilled through for the axis? Any suggestions on this?
