Having been a user of the VAB...I would suggest that you go thru the NASA
PR folks for holding a "Special" event for the sake of aero-modeling. It
is, after all, a public facility paid for with public funds. Who would take
the lead on contacting NASA and seeing if the facility can be had? The
Shuttle program is virtually over and this huge facility will be unused for
the near future.

One thing to consider...the VAB basically can generate its own
"environment"...it's 8 acres and about 525 feet tall....complete with fog and
rain...something to look in to. BUT! you can ask if they would open the doors to
ventilate and then close them to get the conditions calm. Florida has some
funny weather and conditions inside the VAB are not all that stable
without the air handling units turned on. That can get costly.

And, it would be a great PR campaign for indoor modeling!

I think we should go for it.
How about a cat V or cat VIsite? There would be a whole new book of
records to be set.

Maybe NASA wouldn't be too hard on us when it was time to decide the rent.

In todays Floridas newspaper there is an article on the availability
shortly of the vehical assembly building at Kennedy Space Center. Wonder if the
AMA would be interested in the rental for record setting events? I can see
Romash droping those small gliders of his from the upper level of the
building some 500ft in the air. Talk about records...
