Bingo. The above reflects everything I have seen--as long as there are Givers, there will be no shortage of Takers. Ernie Johnson was/is an accomplished FFer in Sacramento, known as the lightest builder in CA (outdoor rubber.) He was also a middle school/high school (IIRC) science teacher who put FF model building in his curriculum for many years. He had models hanging above his desk. Upon retirement, he could not report any student "stickers." But I don't know what he did in terms of follow-up. Agree that this is the area we should improve.

When I built AMA cubs with 5th-6th grade classes in same city, I was keen to scoop up any kid who may be showing some initiative. (Teachers can recognize that, if nothing else.) After a flying session, on chalkboard, "Here's where my club flies every month, here's my phone number. My club can help you get there, and help you build models. You or your parents can call me." But I also didn't hide the fact that it would require some time to get better results if desired, such as a better Cub, or a LPP (I demo'd LPP in 400 classrooms.) Wasn't surprised that no one called--to call was my minimum required show of initiative. But they gladly accepted getting out of math and english in order to build and fly AMA Cubs. As long as someone is giving enough, there will be taking enough.

Those who think dumbing down Indoor is the answer will remain my philosophical enemy, because funny thing--they always want to access the resources, infrastructure of existing Indoor to foist their solution. Use your own resources, and "have at it" if Slip-Together-AintThisFunIndoor is the way to go.
