The mass per unit length changes as you use the motor just like the width changes. I calculate the number when the motor is first made before winding. I don't know how others do it.

  Well I can imagine that the rubber stretches and expands and so if you strip off a length .050" wide and then wind it a few times, it wouldn't quite be the same width anymore, so mass would be a better way to express the amount of rubber. I was just looking at plans for the Wart going, How the he** do I make a motor .91 grams but keep it 18" long without restripping it (can't imagine that working very well...)? The grams-per-inch trial & error idea makes more sense. I've used a rubber stripper only a few times-- what a neat toy to have. (Any up for door prizes this year at USIC??)
