WOW, John, how simple and functional.
I had fits getting wing posts rounded until Bill Gowen came through with
photos and a video of a beautiful metal device he made for the job. I
managed to make a copy out of hardwood and with my trusty variable Dremel
tool now round wing posts with little difficulty. I still have copies of
all those units if anybody needs them. The video is in the files section
under the name Post Maker.wmv

vee of sandpaper in their fingers but the less dexterous of us, such as
me, need all the help I can get. The device is not foolproof, the
important thing is not to let the post get too deep into the thin end of
the vee where it will jamb and break. I avoid this by holding the thing
as in the photograph with a finger either side governing the depth at
which the post sits in the vee. I also take off the corners of the
square post with a sharp blade before starting on the sanding. When
sanding I combine a rotary twiddle with the fingers and a slow in and out
longitudinal movement.
