Carl,

The article is very helpful and I will use its graphs and charts to make my next can prop. I have 4 and 5 inch diameter oatmeal jars that I use, and I have been causal about choosing which jar and what angle to lay the prop. With this article, I can be more precise.

I personally don't have any experience comparing the two types, so I cannot say that I am a proponent of one over the other. One big benefit of the can prop is its ease. I have already made 3 LPP props and 2 F1L props -- all with very little work on the prop form and without having to carve any prop blocks, which is a fairly big obstacle to a beginner.
