I had the great pleasure of attending the Victorian Indoor State Champs this last weekend in Melbourne at an 8m site. There is some growing interest in F1D, F1L and other indoor classes here in Australia.

There were five entries in F1D, which I understand is the best turn out for some time. Mike Glaister's early two flight score of 15:21 secured third, but snapping off a prop bearing ended his chances of improving on this. Jim Fullarton, always the competitor, had two 8min+ flights on the board. I was struggling with an out-of-trim model, but finally managed a couple of 9min+ flights to take home the chocolates.

Apart from their own efforts in F1D, Sean O'Connor and Colin Parker made excellent flights in F1L, with two flight aggregates of 17:55 and 16:42, respectively 1st and 2nd – I was somewhat further back in 3rd.

The 100 mile round trip from my own home town was well worth the drive, and I believe efforts will be made to make next year's event a team trial for the 2012 F1D W/Champs.
