I think I sent this same e-mail to the group a month or two ago. Might
have been also the FFML.
Anyway, I am currently using a 10lb box of Jan09 for outdoor (F1B) use,
the tests have been OK, and also seems to work quite nice in real
action, outdoors below freezing. I have also tested two motors from
Sep09 batch, the one that was reason for some buying frenzy late last year.
To put it briefly: the best SS that I have seen was Apr04, it was about
as good as the worst TanII, 5 to 7% down in energy return compared to
May99. The worst SS, on 2005 to 2006 was about 7 % down from the best
SS, i.e. up to 15% down from best TanII. The Jan09 is _almost_ as good
as the 04/04, and 09/09 is in the same ballpark. My feeling is that the
rubber manufacturer has found another philosophers stone, as the batches
in 2009 seem to have been quite consistent in quality. They are not as
good as bast TanII, but they are quite usable, and definitely worth the
money. On the other hand, I see no reason for a buying frenzy at the
moment, but the quality from batch to batch seems to be quite consistent.
