Why we fly

I have been watching from the sidelines, and feel it's my time to chime in.  I fly ooutdoor free-flight rubber.  I joined this group because I work at a school and can fly in my gym.  I have always understood that indoor is a delicate and serious sport for many whose skills far exceed my 40 second flying bricks.  In AMA competition, rules do apply.  Part of the challenge is building the best ship within those perameters.  That said, teachers and mentors should simply make the building and flying of any model as painlessly educational and rewarding as is possible.  I think most of us have noticed how few teens are willing to put down the video box to actually create something of their own.  In the interest of keeping our hobby alive, let's please separate the "official contest flying" from the "I'll be damned, it flies " events.  That's my 2 cents, I will be here if anyone needs change.
With flight,
Chris
