Buenos Dias to all,
You guys know that I'm as new to this as can be, so please take it from where it comes. I can honestly say, I'd rather cover with Mylar than with paper, any day. I've built a couple of sport scale FF planes and the three Papillions. They were all covered with tissue. I've also covered the wing and stab on my PennyPlane using mylar; I've got to say that aside from the trimming with the cautery tool, covering with the mylar was much, much easier.
It seems to me that setting up the wing covering jig, spraying a touch of glue on the wing frame and just placing said frame on the plastic was an easier go of it, than shrinking the tissue, the ironing, and the light sanding to remove the excess tissue.
One of the reasons I chose to go with the plastic was because, trying to cover the super light balsa with tissue; having to handle and stretch the tissue over the fragile surfaces...now that made me a bit nervous.
Seeing how I'm not going to be competing any time soon (at least until I get a better handle on things), I think that starting out using the jig and mylar combination is a pretty good idea. Now agian, I'm real new to all of this, but this was my experience.

Hope you are all doing well,
Ren
