Bob DeBatty revealed a secret some 50+ yr ago. He used white glue (like Elmers) for everything. Since then the carpenters glue is even better. Titebond 3 is even waterproof. Besides smelling much better, and washing off skin easily, it is easy to use and produces strong HLG's.

As to wt., if you put a hemisphere on end of a .03sq rib, volume will be .03sqx.008. About 1/2 evaporates and density is approx 15 times that of rib, so wt is approx .06" length of rib material, irrelevant for most classes.

Stinky stuff still good for temporary joints, like stabs on a new hlg, prior to trimming.

CyA superior for sticking fingers and field repair.

Epoxy much better for metal.

Carpenters glue a much underappreciated product.

Enjoy,
