Yep, the intense competition side of any activity brings a certain set of dynamics. It can be very challenging and satisfying for those who enjoy it, but it isn't for everyone.

I'd point out, though, that F1D isn't suffering from anything unique (if it is suffering at all). The dynamics in question are mirrored in every intense competition activity I've every witnessed. Professional golf, formula one, America's cup yacht racing, the world champs of every aeromodelling category. Heck, even the rock-paper-scissors world champs (yeah, they really do have one).

p.s. Don't hate the F1D, hate the game. You can still build and fly and have fun. You just might not want to engage in the trials and tribulations of international competition.
