I reread Vladimir's post and found no such ambiguity. Isn't he just saying to NOT steer with a pole held at an big angle--which angles lend themselves to more easily rescuing a stalling model, such as (but not limited to) lifting the tail? Hope he will take sides (again) here.
There's no reason to have to steer an F1d for the first minute or so in a Cat III or IV site. Flight should be considered terminated if you do, IMO.
(Which opinion doesn't count for anything except personal distaste to the point of not wanting to bother to travel to any far away F1d contest.)
