Ray, I suppose most who use 18" boom on F1ds would also be using a straight stub extender having similar diameter as motorstick. I prefer a shallow taper 22" boom, (.130" small end) which points to fishing rod blanks, and they work well. I am proud to own your traditional 18" aluminum taper, however. It works great for other things, such as OPP boom.
