I've gone both ways on this. On my F1M and sometimes on other models I only
attach to the LE, TE and tips. There is some MAV research that shows
flexible wings to have an advantage. On my F1L's I've just sprayed
everything. I don't really have an answer as to why except that it's more
convenient.
