You're right. Balsa not the best for strain gaging and current telemetry a bit weighty for indoor, BUT a couple of thin sticks from LE & TE parallel to wing posts and maybe 1/16 gap on each side, should be worth many opinions.
Change in gap should be observable in flite and could even be recorded along w/other info with a multitude of digital cameras.
Static tests would be tricky, but some clever sportsman pointed out that the TE post takes the vast majority of the tork, could probably just let prop unwind while holding TE.
Could also save a bit of drag/wt with a Boron pointer behind post but it would be harder to read.
Strain gages work so good on real airplanes.
