Except from the next Indoor FF MA column:
A Limited Pennyplane Pro / Am, to be held during the Saturday duration session at the 2010 USIC / Indoor FF Nats at Johnson City, TN. Amateurs are anyone, high school age and up, with an interest in Indoor FF, but have been too busy or intimidated to give it a try. They will sign up in advance and get matched with a Pro by random drawing.
The pros will build a LPP to donate to the cause. Amateurs must wind and launch, but the pros can trim, repair, and strategize with their teammate.
It's a team event, so the winning pro and amateur will both get tons of bragging rights – not to mention cool prizes.
We'll have a pizza party for dinner on Saturday so everyone can keep flying, as well as a Sportsman Class LPP contest on Sunday for the amateurs only, with the BOM rule suspended so they can fly their new planes.
This is a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for amateurs to get some first-hand coaching from an Indoor FF expert (who knows, you might get paired with a world or national champion), as well as a competition proven model. You'll have two great days of flying in one of the world's best sites.
For the pros, this is a great way to prove your mettle – if you really want to know something, teach it!
The contest is named after F1D world champ Erv Rodemsky, originator of the Pennyplane event.
