The BOM

It's hard for me to imagine a market for RTF or ARF indoor models. Would someone want to pay $500 for a competitive F1L? Or $1000 for a F1D? Probably not. Could such a model be manufactured in China for $25? It doesn't seem possible to me considering the necessary hand selection of every part of the model before any building takes place.

It's much easier for me to imagine a market for certain parts like VP hubs. We can already buy top quality bearings so that part wouldn't be new. Props? Possibly. Other components seem less likely to have market value. For instance a finished motor stick could be sold for not too much money, but every model I fly has a motor stick that is specifically designed for that model and for the rubber size that I use. It might not work well on someone else's model.

How about a RTF Slow Poker for Cat 1 HLG or UCLG? I could build one to sell for about $1000. Any takers? Stan could probably do it in a lot less time so how about $500? Any takers at that price? No? Then that puts us back to having them made in China which would involve some miracle new material and some unknown new manufacturing processes.

In short I don't see any earth shaking effect on indoor FF from losing the BOM rule.
