These drawings of the Mini-Dome at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN (USA) came from the INDOOR 88 World Championships Souvenir Program and also appear somewhere in the Indoor News and Views newsletter. These drawings have not been updated, but the hanging scoreboard West of center is the only significant change.

Don, I'll need to equip my gliders with power steering! I want to try and avoid the trusses, girders and lights. We have a category one site in Cocoa Beach which has a similar ceiling configuration; yours truly has been known to place his flights between the webs unscathed. I doubt if I have the coordination and stupidity to repeat such feats of prowess in Johnson City. I really would like to know the height to the bottom of the girders so I won't be tempted(lol) On the other hand ubiquitous scoreboard is a sure accident waiting to happen. Last week I asked Lee Hines what would be a good number to shoot for; he said that individual flights of 100 seconds should take it..yeah right Lee! The girders are the limit!! ha ...need to know... By the way Tim Batuik emailed me; he's going to be there along with Stan . The lineup is starting to take shape for the Battle in the Smokies; no doubt it will be smokin!! Jim Mayes

Jim
It has standard eight-lane 400M track around a full-size football field, so something like 200 ft by 450 ft. Seats on both sides to the roof with no endzone seating.
The ceiling height has been quoted as anywhere from 116 to 122 ft. It is a pretty dirty ceiling with exposed steel trusses (pretty easy to hang up).
The site was Awesome until 2005 when a scoreboard was suspected from the 50 yard line, just off of center. VERY easy to hang up and it hangs down to only 50 ft above the floor.
All things considered USIC is a great meet in a nice little town. You should go!

1.) What is the usable ceiling height at the indoor Nats venue? 2.) What is the usable floor size; length and width? (Actually , just width would be fine) Jim Mayes
