Approx. 1 month ago I posted some No-cal performance data & ask for
suggestions on how I might increase flight times in a low ceiling (17.5') site where
scrubbing was not practical. This is the follow-up report I promised.
Previously reported data:
Prop: 7" diameter, 1.285 P/D
motor: 14.75" loop, Tan II 3/02, .80 gram
Total turns 2100, back off to 1900 launch turns, 350 turns left,
flight: 181 sec.
Prop: same as above
motor: 16" loop, Tan II 3/02, .85 gram
Total turns 2400, back off to 2250 launch turns, 500 turns left,
flight: 199 sec.
Prop: 7" diameter, 1.36 P/D
motor: 17" loop, Tan II 3/02, .93 grams
Total turns 2700, back off to 2400 launch turns, 450 turns left,
flight: 209 sec.
Aki suggested a higher pitch prop.
Results:
Prop: &" diameter, 1.50 P/D
motor: 17" loop, Tan II 3/02, .93 grams (same as above)
Total turns 2560, back off to 2400 launch turns, 700 turns left
flight: 229 sec.
All the above represent average data based on several flights.
What would you suggest next?
