Glad to hear they are doing well Fred. I would think 2 minutes or better should be easily possible.

  Bill Gowen and All,

Thanks for the Finny 09 design for the middle school Wright Stuff event in Science Olympiad and your helpful suggestions. The students here took the plane that they built to the gym this morning to fly for the first time and were able to break one minute. The gym has about a 20-foot ceiling and they will be able to do somewhat better, probably 1.5 to 2 minutes in this gym. The SO Regional that they will enter will be held at East Tennessee State University but in the old Brooks Gym, not in the Mini-Dome. Brooks Gym will have about a 50-foot ceiling, I think. They had tried to fly their plane in the school auditorium over the seats once before and had flown a plane from a previous year twice. None of these students had tried Wright Stuff before.

Thanks for your help. We are encouraged by their progress to date.

  Fred Rash
