As many of you may know, there are small (pocket) digital scales that read
0.01 gram for sale on ebay for under $10 + shipping. I have one & it is
reliable & accurate. Because of their small size, they can easily be included in a
tool box when I go to our local flying sites. For some items, the platform
may be too small. Make a larger platform made of balsa (or other material) &
lay it on top of the scale & "Tare" the balsa so that the scale reads zero
again.
