Yesterday I built and flew a modified Finny 09 and have incorporated
the changes into the plan. There are now 2 plans in the PDF - the
Finny 09 and the SuperFinny 09.

Changes to the standard plan include taller tip plates for both wing
and stab, reduction of the wood sizes for the stab wood and a revised
weight chart with weights that should be more easily obtainable. The
stab weight shown on the previous plan was probably not possible with
1/16" sq. wood.

I built the Super version. Differences are 8% airfoil with 5" chord
instead of 4", 2" longer overall length and streamlined LE and Gurney
flap TE. The LE and TE instructions are shown on the Super plan.

I flew it on an 18.5 cm prop (from 2 years ago) set to 12" pitch and
used 1.5g motors (5/99)of about 14" length. Best time was 3:08 in a
24' Cat 1 site. The time is exactly the same as I got with a totally
standard LittleSquare a year ago with the 24cm prop in the same room.

The model was very stable and would fly with a pretty wide range of
trim. Head-on building hits were followed by a very quick recovery.
It even recovered from some bad hits with the model going straight
down.

Based on these results I would probably go to a 6" chord wing as a
next step, but this model as is should be very competitive most
anywhere in the country.
